Cheras: Three men were arrested and six birds, believed to be protected wildlife worth an estimated RM33,000, were seized during the Southern Zone Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor yesterday. The operation marked a significant step in tackling wildlife crime in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Peninsular Malaysia issued a statement today detailing the joint operation with the Royal Malaysia Police. The operation involved personnel from the Central Brigade General Operations Force and uncovered three separate cases of suspected wildlife crime.

The seized birds included five Sun Conures and one Stripe-throated Bulbul, along with four cages. Additional items confiscated during the operation were an Indonesian travel document and a mobile phone, both of which are expected to aid in the ongoing investigation.

PERHILITAN confirmed that the three suspects included two local men and an Indonesian national. Following their arrest, the suspects and the seized items were transported to PERHILITAN headquarters for further action and investigation.
