He said publishing the report at the time could have triggered panic among depositors, leading to a mass withdrawal of funds that might have destabilised TH.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar stated that three years ago, the government was not in a position to publish the report. The potential loss of public confidence in Tabung Haji could have resulted in the withdrawal of savings, he explained. Over the past three years, TH has undergone management changes, with chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain at the helm, and is now on a strong footing. Despite this, Anwar emphasized the importance of transparency, noting that the public deserves to know the truth.

During the Semarak Kenegaraan programme at the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA), Anwar highlighted the MADANI Government's stance against abuse of power and its emphasis on good governance. He mentioned that TH had recently been recognized with the Best Haj Management award for this year's haj season.

Additionally, a joint statement by Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, DAP national vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan, and PKR deputy secretary-general Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad called for the Cabinet to deliberate on whether the RCI report should be made public. They argued that disclosure aligns with transparency and accountability principles, and the public has the right to know the facts.

Anwar also mentioned that the government is prepared to release the final RCI report on TH soon, allowing the public to learn the findings of the inquiry into allegations involving the sale of TH's strategic assets. He would consult the Chief Secretary to the Government on whether the report should be referred to the Cabinet first.
