Kuala Lumpur:Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has reported a record-high investment income of RM4.64 billion for the 2025 financial year, attributed to a disciplined investment strategy, continuous risk management, and strengthened governance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wadah Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia (WADAH) secretary-general Azizuddin Ahmad highlighted that the institutional reform and improvement agenda implemented over recent years has proven effective. This was supported by the explanation of Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), in the Dewan Rakyat, who stated that TH's investment portfolio adhered to Syariah principles and was guided by the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) framework.
The SAA framework ensures that TH's portfolio is diversified across asset classes, sectors, and markets. Risk management focuses on protecting depositors' capital, asset and liability management, liquidity, and selecting assets with strong fundamentals and sustainable cash flows. TH's financial position remains robust, with total assets of RM98.58 billion against liabilities of RM95.63 billion for the 2025 financial year.
Azizuddin noted that the profit distribution rate increased from 1.25 percent in 2018 to 3.50 percent in 2025, resulting in the distribution of RM3.22 billion to more than 9.7 million depositors. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong governance, investment discipline, Syariah compliance, and effective risk management.
He also warned against complacency and stressed the need for continued reform to sustain TH's financial strength and depositor confidence. Past experiences and findings from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into TH should guide further strengthening of systems and ensure decisions involving depositors' funds are made with integrity, competence, and accountability.
WADAH commended TH's efforts to uphold its original mandate, which includes assisting Muslims in preparing for the pilgrimage. TH's ability to maintain the Haj Cost at RM33,300 for four consecutive seasons from 2024 to 2027 underscores the importance of sustainable financial management in supporting pilgrim interests.
WADAH stated that TH's success should be measured not only by financial performance but also by governance strength, deposit security, shariah compliance, service quality, and depositor confidence.
