Kuala Terengganu: T’ganu’s head coach expressed concerns over his team’s defensive issues following a 2-2 draw against Sabah at Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. The coach highlighted that a last-minute reshuffle of the starting XI, due to the unavailability of key players a day before the match, impacted the team’s performance significantly.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the coach mentioned that the lack of quality players, particularly in defense, led to numerous mistakes during the match. Despite the challenges, he acknowledged the players’ effort and accepted the outcome, although he had hoped for a full three points at home. The draw with Sabah resulted in T’ganu missing an opportunity to close the gap on their rivals, affecting their aspirations to finish in the top three this season.
Sabah’s head coach, Martin Stano, attributed their inability to secure a win to poor communication among his players. He remarked that although the team commenced the game strongly and created several scoring opportunities, a mistake during a corner kick deprived them of victory. Stano emphasized the need for his players to maintain focus in their remaining three games to secure their position in the Super League. Currently, Sabah holds the third spot in the league table with 36 points, while TFC is in fourth place, trailing by four points.
