JOHOR BAHRU: The Task Force on Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Projects (TFST), operating under the MADANI Government, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing support to buyers affected by problematic housing projects. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to address issues related to delays and abandonment in private housing sectors, ensuring that buyers receive the homes they were promised.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, emphasized the ministry’s dedication to continuous monitoring and intervention as a priority agenda. As of October 31, the statistics reveal 212 delayed and 382 sick private housing projects, alongside 113 abandoned projects. Notably, while there was a slight increase in sick projects from 379 to 382 since the last report on September 30, the number of delayed projects saw a significant drop from 303 to 212 in October.
Aiman Athirah highlighted that despite these challenges, progress is being made.
Specifically, 37 sick and delayed projects have achieved the Certificate of Completion and Compliance, and an additional project has returned to smooth operation as of October. These 38 projects collectively represent a Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM1.40 billion. The TFST also celebrated the completion of the Taman Desa Anjung Putra project in Sepang, Selangor, which had been pending since 2012.
The Deputy Minister further elaborated on the collaboration between stakeholders, which has been instrumental in achieving positive outcomes for affected buyers. This was exemplified by the recovery of the Taman Desa Anjung Putra project, managed by Amanahraya Sdn Bhd, with TFST’s assistance, finally providing homes to buyers after a 12-year wait.
In addition, Aiman Athirah’s recent visit to the Vista Tiara project, initially part of the ‘Jade Palace’ project by Danga Jed Development Malaysia Sdn Bhd, showcased ongoing efforts to overcome pandemic-induced delays. With development by MB World Properties Sdn Bhd,
the project consists of high-rise service apartments and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027, delivering vacant possession to the buyers.
