Terengganu: All schools in Terengganu have been instructed to suspend outdoor activities due to the current hot and dry weather.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu State Education Department (JPNT) director Kamsah@Kamal Mohamed stated that the notification on the matter had been distributed to all schools in the state, and was effective from April 20. All outdoor activities have been cancelled, including water-based activities, but indoor activities are permitted. The suspension also affects activities such as the 1 Student 1 Sport programme, uniformed units, clubs and associations, sports and games.
Kamsah@Kamal Mohamed emphasized that the decision was made to ease the current situation and ensure safety, highlighting that the safety of students is a priority that cannot be compromised. Assemblies and similar gatherings are only allowed in the early morning, and any afternoon programs must be postponed.
Furthermore, he noted that the fires, especially in Kuala Nerus, and the resulting haze are being closely monitored by the JPNT. Consultations have been held with the State Health deputy director and the District Health Office (PKD) to seek advice on the situation. Preventive measure posters have been distributed to all schools, and currently, there is no need to implement Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) as the Department of Environment and PKD have indicated the situation is under control.
Any further instructions will be communicated in line with the guidelines set by the Education Ministry to State Education Departments, District Education Offices, and schools.
