Terengganu Police Open 12 IPs Over Cheating In Lucky Draw Contest

Kuala Terengganu: The Terengganu Police have opened 12 investigation papers (IPs) over alleged phishing in a lucky draw contest. Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor stated that the IPs were initiated to investigate the 12 reports received in the district since January this year, with the incidents involving losses amounting to RM259,103.57.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the latest report came in yesterday, concerning a 52-year-old female teacher who lost RM5,499 after reportedly clicking on a lucky draw link on Facebook. The victim discovered her money missing from two bank accounts when she checked with the banks.

In another similar case reported yesterday, a 52-year-old female trader lost RM14,110 from three bank accounts after clicking on a link on a social media site. ACP Azli Mohd Noor emphasized the necessity for public vigilance against such scams and advised the public not to be easily swayed by promises of quick profits or gains.
