Teo Urges Caution Over Language, 3R Issues

Kuala lumpur: All parties should refrain from using inappropriate or discourteous language when issuing public statements, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said today. She emphasized that remarks touching on sensitivities involving race, religion, and royalty (3R) should be avoided.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Teo advised everyone to avoid inappropriate language and 3R issues not only during election campaigns but at all times. Her comments came during the 'Balancing Virality and Responsibility: Journalism Amid Speed, Trust and Impact - An Industry Dialogue' course, which she officiated today.

Teo was responding to criticism directed at Department of Community Communications (J-KOM) director-general Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali, who has been alleged to use inappropriate language in his public statements since taking office. She mentioned she has not yet met Mohd Hisyamuddin to offer her advice directly.

Mohd Hisyamuddin assumed the role of J-KOM director-general on June 9, succeeding Datuk Ismail Yusop.
