Shah alam: The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, today launched the Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (YANIS) at the Setia City Convention Centre. Her Royal Highness, who is also the royal patron of the foundation, witnessed the handover of a RM1 million contribution to YANIS from the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event saw the attendance of notable figures, including state Women Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari, YANIS chief executive officer Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim, and MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop.
Anfaal Saari stated that YANIS will build on the existing efforts of Anak Istimewa Selangor (ANIS), which currently targets persons with disabilities (PwD) under 18 years old, by expanding empowerment initiatives to include all persons with disabilities in Selangor. This expansion is part of a broader objective outlined in the Rancangan Selangor Pertama (RS-1) to promote social inclusivity and enhance community well-being in the state. Anfaal also mentioned that the core principles of this initiative will be further detailed in the Selangor PwD Policy, set to be launched at the upcoming State Legislative Assembly sitting.
