Tengku Muhammad Ismail Appointed Terengganu Regent

Kuala lumpur: The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, has consented to appoint his son, Yang Dipertuan Muda Terengganu Tengku Muhammad Ismail, as Regent effective Wednesday (April 15). The appointment follows the Sultan's decision to take a temporary leave from all official duties and engagements based on medical advice.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Terengganu Royal Assembly Council secretary, Datuk Azmal Azaddin, announced that the proclamation ceremony for the Regent's appointment was held today at Istana Terengganu in Kuala Lumpur. The decision comes as the Sultan is advised by medical officers to rest from his official responsibilities.

Azmal further stated that the 64th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Terengganu, originally scheduled for April 26, along with all related ceremonies, events, and programs, would be postponed to a later date yet to be announced.
