Accra:According to BERNAMA News Agency, ten personnel from the General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade have been dismissed since 2025 for issues related to drug abuse and absence from duty. Six individuals were dismissed in 2025, five due to drug-related offenses under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and one for absence from duty. This year, four more personnel have been dismissed, consisting of two drug abuse cases and two for absence from duty.
GOF Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Ahmad Radzi Hussain emphasized the seriousness of drug abuse among the force, stating that it poses a threat to the discipline and image of the organization. He assured that there would be no tolerance for such behavior, and those involved would face appropriate actions under the law.
The brigade currently has 17 ongoing investigations concerning drug-related arrests. A recent arrest under the administration of the Southeast Brigade involved a battalion member suspected of drug abuse while on duty on October 13 during Op Taring Wawasan. The investigation revealed the suspect might have been engaged in drug abuse for eight years.
Ahmad Radzi instructed commanding officers to closely monitor their personnel’s welfare, discipline, and conduct to prevent potential legal violations. He also directed the Integrity and Standards Compliance Branch to enhance preventive measures, including inspections, counselling, and follow-ups for personnel at risk. Supervisors failing in their duties could also face disciplinary actions.
