Tekun Disburses RM23 Million to Support Indian Entrepreneurs

Kuala Lumpur: The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) has successfully distributed RM23 million in financing to 879 Indian entrepreneurs across Malaysia as of May 1 this year. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster economic development within the Indian community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk B. Anbumani, the senior private secretary to the Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, highlighted the government’s commitment to this cause. The funds were allocated under the SPUMI (Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme) Goes Big financing scheme, benefiting 137 recipients. An additional 742 Indian entrepreneurs received support through the TEKUN SPUMI scheme.

Beyond TEKUN financing, the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) has launched numerous initiatives this year to bolster the economic growth of the Indian community. These platforms are designed to empower entrepreneurs, offering various financing opportunities essential for business expansion.

Anbumani, speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, emphasized the importance of these government-provided platforms for the Indian community’s economic well-being. He expressed KUSKOP’s dedication to assisting Indian entrepreneurs during the Vanakam MADANI engagement session with Perak Indian entrepreneurs.

The entrepreneurs benefiting from these schemes span various sectors, including saree sales, transportation services, restaurants, retail outlets, and online ventures, illustrating the diverse business activities supported by the initiative.
