Teenager Drowns After Makeshift Boat Capsizes In Flooded Rubber Plantation

Kuala krai: A 19-year-old teenager was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into a flooded rubber plantation area near Masjid Mukim Pemberian Al Mahdi, Kampung Pemberian, Kuala Krai, tonight. The victim, identified as Muhammad Syahril Hakimy Sudin, was discovered at 9.02 pm by rescue teams.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa stated that initial information suggested that the victim drowned after a makeshift boat, crafted from a split drum, capsized. Muhammad Syahril was reportedly setting nets in the flooded area when the incident occurred.

The fire and rescue department received an emergency call at 7.22 pm, prompting the dispatch of an engine from the Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station. The victim was found approximately 50 metres from the location where he was believed to have fallen, following a search operation conducted by the fire and rescue team.

The victim's body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action. The operation was fully concluded at 9.52 pm.
