Serikin: The Malaysian Army (TDM) has successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle over 10 tonnes of frozen meat products, valued at RM354,320, into Indonesia during an operation conducted in Serikin, Bau.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation, named Op Keris Parang, was executed by the personnel from the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (3 RRD) at approximately 2.30 pm. The Risk Branch of the Headquarters of the First Infantry Division detailed in a statement that their team stopped a white lorry that was navigating an illegal route at Kampung Sebobok towards the Malaysia-Indonesia border. This interception took place within an oil palm plantation, roughly 900 meters from the border.

The seized goods included 320 cartons of Allana brand frozen meat, 170 cartons of Ayam Madu brand chicken sausages, and 21 cartons of Australian E.C. Throsby brand frozen beef tripe. The total value of these seized products was estimated at RM258,320. The lorry, driven by a local male, was found to be carrying 511 cartons of frozen meat products weighing a total of 10,220 kilograms. The driver was unable to present valid travel and cargo documentation.

In addition to the meat products, authorities also seized a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry valued at RM95,000 and a smartphone worth RM1,000. This brought the cumulative value of the seizure to RM354,320. The suspect, along with the seized items, was handed over to the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD). Subsequently, the case was transferred to the Bau Division of the Sarawak Department of Veterinary Services for further proceedings.
