Tawau: The number of flood evacuees in Tawau remained unchanged at 362 people from 102 families as of 8 am today. The Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that all evacuees are being sheltered at the temporary relief centre (PPS) at the Tawau Sports Complex Multipurpose Hall.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, all the evacuees are residents from four affected villages: Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat, Kampung Tanjung Batu Darat, Kampung Tanjung Batu Otentik, and Kampung Kinabutan Tiku Batu 6. The Secretariat confirmed that no fatalities or untoward incidents have been reported so far.

The statement added that rescue agencies continue to monitor the situation on the ground, with water levels in several affected villages showing a downward trend. Continuous rain since last Friday caused flooding in Tawau and its surrounding areas, prompting the disaster to be officially declared at 8.30 am last Saturday.
