TAMPIN: A 23-year-old man has been arrested by police for alleged possession of 55 grammes of syabu at the Felda Jelai 1 palm oil plantation in Gemas, shortly after midnight. The operation, led by narcotics officers, resulted in the seizure of drugs estimated to be worth RM6,050.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Tampin police chief, Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman, stated that the suspect was detained while allegedly waiting for a buyer. Initial investigations suggest that the drugs were intended for distribution in the areas of Gemas and Gemencheh.
Superintendent Amiruddien added that the suspect tested negative for drugs and has no prior criminal records. The individual has been remanded for seven days, commencing today, as authorities continue their investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The case highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.
