Tamparuli’s Potential Full District Status Hinges on GRS Victory, Says Chief Minister

Tamparuli: Tamparuli could be elevated to full district status if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) retains control following the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), according to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji, who also serves as the GRS Chairman, made this announcement during the Mega Campaign event at Tamu Baharu Tamparuli. He urged voters to support GRS candidates, particularly in the Tamparuli constituency, to realize this potential upgrade. Hajiji emphasized the necessity of Dr. Bonaventure Boniface’s victory in Tamparuli to advance the district status application, citing previous successes in elevating Sook and Paitan to full district status.

Tamparuli, located in the Tuaran parliamentary area, is approximately 38 kilometers from Kota Kinabalu. Hajiji highlighted the successes of the GRS-led government over the past five years, noting that initiatives have been effectively implemented to benefit residents.

He mentioned the Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat 2025 (SYUKUR) programme, which provides financial assistance to low-income individuals and senior citizens. Additionally, GRS plans to help first-time homebuyers with deposit coverage for homes priced below RM500,000 if they win the election.

In the current election, GRS is contesting 55 out of 73 state seats, with polling day set for November 29 and early voting on November 25.
