Tabung Haji Allocates Over RM3 Million Zakat to Melaka Islamic Religious Council

Melaka: The Pilgrims Fund Board (Tabung Haji) has presented RM3,155,678.55 in zakat for the 2025 financial year to the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM), said Tabung Haji Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mustakim Mohamad. He stated that the zakat contribution was handed over to Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam at Dewan Seri Utama, Office of the Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri in Ayer Keroh here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mustakim emphasized that the zakat distributed by Tabung Haji serves as a catalyst for change in improving the quality of life of asnaf and those in need in Melaka. He stressed that the annual distribution of zakat throughout the country, including in Melaka, is a trust carried out with full responsibility. Through this zakat payment, Tabung Haji aims to benefit more asnaf and needy individuals through various welfare, education, and healthcare programmes implemented by the state religious authorities.

Mustakim further noted that Tabung Haji had allocated RM1.065 million in 2025 for the execution of various zakat wakalah programmes in Melaka. These initiatives include the Iqra' Programme for Public Universities at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, the Afiat Programme providing mechanical beds at hospitals, the MADANI Adopted School Iqra' Programme, the Ehsan Raya Programme, and the TH Cares initiative, which benefitted 2,770 asnaf in the state.

He highlighted that the distribution of TH zakat wakalah through specially designed programmes aligns with Maqasid Shariah to ensure zakat is used strategically, sustainably, and directly benefits asnaf. Last year, more than 726,000 asnaf nationwide received assistance through the zakat wakalah programme, with over 2.9 million beneficiaries over the past decade.

As of May 31, Tabung Haji had 397,624 depositors in Melaka with total savings of RM3.12 billion. Mustakim reaffirmed that TH will continue to play its role as a caring and responsible Islamic financial institution, strengthening the wellbeing of the ummah through effective zakat distribution and community development programmes that provide lasting benefits to the people.
