Tabung Haji Act To Be Amended For Safeguarding Muslim Trust: PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: The government will amend the Tabung Haji Act 1995 (Act 535) to ensure that the trust of Muslims continues to be safeguarded, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, also the Finance Minister, said the amendment was among the MADANI Government's measures to strengthen governance and ensure that every institutional weakness was addressed firmly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that governance must continue to be strengthened, institutions cleaned up, and every weakness firmly addressed. The amendment of the Tabung Haji Act is aimed at safeguarding the trust of Muslims. He also mentioned that the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU) 1971 must be completely repealed without being replaced by a new law that restricts students' voices.

In his Facebook post today, the Prime Minister stated that the MADANI Government under his leadership would ensure economic growth translates into a better quality of life for the people, irrespective of their political or state background. He highlighted that people in opposition-led states also deserve attention, as the government's responsibility is towards the entire population and nation, not just its supporters or certain states.

In conjunction with the 2026 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) National Congress that concluded today, Anwar, who is also the PKR president, emphasized the party's commitment to principles, idealism, and courage to do what is right, without compromising principles or betraying the ideals of reform. He stressed the importance of PKR remaining a platform for the struggle for all Malaysians across race, religion, and region, with justice demonstrated through policies and actions.

Anwar reiterated that Keadilan's strength lies in a clean team, strong leadership, and organized efforts. He noted that strength should not be a tool for personal enrichment but a trust to champion the people, uphold justice, and elevate human dignity. He urged for unity, streamlined efforts, and continued progress for the people and the nation.
