Melaka: SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) is set to deploy more than 1,500 personnel and 329 machinery units as part of its Hari Raya Aidilfitri Operational Strategy, scheduled from March 16 to 24.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, SWM Environment's corporate general manager, Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, detailed that the operation will occur in three phases. The first phase is scheduled before Hari Raya Aidilfitri from March 16 to 20, the second phase during Hari Raya from March 21 to 22, and the third phase after Hari Raya from March 23 to 24. The initiative aims to maintain public cleanliness and ensure the smooth operation of waste collection services during the festive season. The focus areas include scheduled domestic and bulk waste collection, operations at public markets, and cleaning city centers, beaches, and public sites.
For smooth operations, the domestic waste collection will be advanced to midnight on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Collection at centralized bins and major roads is scheduled for the first day of Hari Raya. These details were shared by Mohd Norlisam at a media conference for the 2026 SWM Environment Hari Raya Operational Strategy and Iftar event with strategic partner agencies, the media, and orphans. The event also saw the presence of SWM Environment Melaka and North Johor operations manager Khaw Su Aun and Melaka Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) director Nor Zaki Md Nor.
Mohd Norlisam emphasized the importance of addressing 77 centralized bin hotspots to prevent waste accumulation during the festive season. Of these hotspots, 37 are in the Melaka Historic City Council, 16 in the Alor Gajah Municipal Council, 19 in the Jasin Municipal Council, and five in the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council areas.
Residents are advised to avoid parking haphazardly in front of their houses, secure garbage bags properly, practice waste separation at the source, and ensure remnants of firecrackers or fireworks are extinguished before disposal. Throughout the operational period, the SWM Complaints Division will manage grievances and ensure prompt actions. Enquiries or complaints can be directed to the Indahkan Malaysia Hotline (1-800-88-7472), the SWM Public Complaints Unit (012-6180082), or Melaka SWM Environment (06-3359000).
