Support and Aid Pour in for Putri Qisya Amidst Family Tragedy

Sungai petani: Aid continues to pour for Putri Qisya Nur Izzat, 12, whose parents and four younger siblings were found drowned in Sungai Korok last Saturday. Apart from relatives, school authorities, and community leaders who have visited her since last Monday, various non-governmental organizations have also come forward to provide support and assistance to the girl.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chairman of the Anak Muda MADANI Kedah Association, Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, stated that the tragic incident involving Putri Qisya’s family has deeply affected not only the child but also the wider community. “We are here to offer support and encouragement to Putri Qisya. We hope she will remain strong and not lose heart in the face of this hardship she has to endure throughout her life,” he remarked during a visit to Putri Qisya at her relative’s residence in Taman Sri Aman.

He added that the association will collaborate with the State Education Department (JPN) to manage her needs, focusing on her education. Furthermore, Sungai Petani Member of Parliament Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari also visited her to convey support and condolences from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari assured that the Ministry of Education (MoE) is taking steps to address her mental well-being, organizing counselling sessions to help her cope with the trauma. The Kedah Education Department (JPN) has assured her of all forms of schooling assistance, including the Supplementary Food Programme, School Milk Programme (PSS), and a one-off disaster assistance in the form of cash under the Poor Students Trust Fund (KWAPM).

Abdul Rahim Mat of the Kedah Education Department indicated that insurance compensation for her deceased siblings, who were also school students, will be paid to Putri Qisya as the sole heir. The department is also prepared to assist in opening a bank account for her to manage financial matters arising from contributions and to facilitate her transfer to a new school if desired.

Putri Qisya’s family, consisting of her parents, Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32, and Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31, along with her siblings Putra Rayyan Nur Izzat, 9; Hawa Adriana Nur Izzat, 8; Annayla Humaira Nur Izzat, 7; and Tuah Haydar, six months, perished when their car veered off the road and plunged into Sungai Korok early Saturday morning before being discovered last Monday.
