Ruiz later doubled the advantage for TFC with a remarkable long-range strike just before halftime, putting the home team in a commanding position. Despite Melaka's efforts to respond, including a near-miss by V. Ruventhiran whose shot hit the crossbar, the visitors were unable to find the net.
