SunCon Shares Surge 4.38% Following RM1.02 Billion Data Centre Contract Award

Kuala lumpur: Sunway Construction Group Bhd's (SunCon) share price jumped 4.38 percent on Wednesday morning after the company secured a significant data centre development project in Johor valued at RM1.02 billion. According to BERNAMA News Agency, SunCon's subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), received a letter of award from a U.S.-based multinational technology corporation for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing fit-out works required for the data centre's development. By 10.31 am, SunCon's shares had risen by 35 sen to RM8.35, with a total of 1.34 million shares changing hands. CGS International reported that SunCon's project wins for the year-to-date, up to August 2026, amount to RM5.3 billion, which raises its order book to RM9.9 billion. The firm anticipates that SunCon will exceed its RM6 billion order win target by the third quarter of 2026. The forecast for new wins in the financial year 2026 (FY2026) is set at RM8 billion, as noted in their report. Additionally, CGS International projected that the second quarter of 2026 results are on course to contribute to achieving the FY2026 forecast core net profit of RM440 million. Consequently, the firm maintained an 'Add' rating on SunCon, citing its position as the leading data centre proxy in Malaysia.
