Sultanah Urges UniSZA Graduates to Pursue Lifelong Learning

Terengganu:The Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, encouraged graduates of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) to embrace lifelong learning, emphasizing the necessity of continuously upgrading skills and adapting to change amidst the rapid advancements in technology.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, who is also UniSZA Chancellor, highlighted the significance of adapting to a world transformed by artificial intelligence (AI). She noted that a degree alone is insufficient, as knowledge must remain relevant throughout one's life. Her royal address, delivered by UniSZA Pro-Chancellor Tunku Datuk Nooruddin Tunku Shahabuddin during the 18th Idul Ilmi Convocation Ceremony, stressed the importance of principled adaptation to change.

The Sultanah remarked on AI's ability to perform tasks like data analysis, language translation, and research support, which offers significant potential for progress in various sectors. However, she warned of the ethical considerations and academic challenges posed by such advancements. She urged universities to cultivate a deep understanding of technology's use, objectives, and moral implications.

Sultanah Nur Zahirah emphasized the importance of integrating ethics with academic and digital skills at UniSZA, an institution committed to Islamic intellectual heritage. She expressed hope that students' relationships with God, family, teachers, and society would guide their use of knowledge and technology.

During the convocation, 3,688 graduates received degrees and diplomas. Honorary degrees were awarded to Prof Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, a medical professional experienced in crisis management, and Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Mazlin Mokhtar, a chemistry and environmental science expert.
