Kuala terengganu: The Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, has called on all parties to embody the spirit of ‘Khairul Ummah’ (the best people raised for the good of mankind) by striving to be the best community, not only through devotion to faith but also through leadership in knowledge, social justice, and humanity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Her Royal Highness, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), emphasized that graduates must harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) not merely for technological advancement but for the greater good of humanity, using it as a tool to elevate moral and social values.
Sultanah Nur Zahirah highlighted the importance of integrating ‘naqli’ (revealed knowledge) and ‘aqli’ (human reason, intellect, and rational knowledge) to ensure that technological progress remains rooted in faith, ethics, and wisdom. She remarked on the current global disparity, where some live in technological abundance while others remain trapped in poverty and conflict, urging UniSZA graduates to shoulder the responsibility of upholding global justice.
Addressing the graduates, she stated, “The degree received today is not an end, but a beginning. Knowledge is a trust, and the deeds that follow will determine whether you truly belong among ‘Khairul Ummah’.” This message was part of her address at UniSZA’s Idul Ilmi convocation ceremony at Dewan Al-Muktafi Billah Shah.
Sultanah Nur Zahirah also expressed her hope that UniSZA graduates will evolve into a generation that unites technological intelligence with moral wisdom, promotes justice with courage, and builds social progress on the foundation of integrity and civility.
A total of 4,215 UniSZA graduates are set to receive their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, and Diploma at the university’s 17th convocation, which runs from today until November 6. In addition, national athletics legend Datuk Marina Chin was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Sports Science at the same ceremony.
