RAUB: Sultan Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah called on the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) and the authorities involved to update weather forecast data and flood events in the country more frequently. Al-Sultan Abdullah emphasized the importance of the latest information for people, particularly those residing in areas prone to disasters.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah highlighted the unpredictable weather expected in the middle and end of this month, which could lead to rising sea tides and potential river overflows, causing floods in villages along the rivers. He urged METMalaysia and relevant agencies to provide accurate data and make official announcements more regularly to ensure the public receives reliable reports.

The Sultan made these remarks after distributing donations to flood victims at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Dewan Kampung Lechar. He was accompanied by Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskand
ariah and Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah. Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was also present.

Al-Sultan Abdullah advised residents in low-lying areas to be well-prepared for potential weather challenges to prevent tragedies, including loss of life. He stressed the importance of supervising children and keeping them away from rivers and drains. Additionally, he urged residents to promptly evacuate when instructed by officers or security forces to ensure their safety.

His Majesty also extended his best wishes to all Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, including those affected by the floods, as they commence their examinations starting tomorrow.

Pahang recently faced flooding, resulting in the opening of 26 relief centers across the districts of Raub, Jerantut, and Lipis to accommodate 1,217 evacuees from 416 families.
