KUALA KANGSAR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, along with Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, participated in the Sultan of Perak’s Birthday Run at Dataran Pavillion, attracting over 12,000 participants.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the royal couple was joined by their daughter, Raja Nazira Safya, and Sultan Nazrin’s younger sister, Raja Datuk Seri Yong Sofia. The event also saw the presence of Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, his wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, state executive council members, and heads of government departments.

The run commenced at 6.45 am and was organized in celebration of Sultan Nazrin’s 68th birthday on November 1. Sultan Nazrin flagged off the runners for the 15-kilometre, 10-kilometre, and seven-kilometre categories, while Raja Datuk Seri Yong Sofia flagged off participants in the VIP guest of honour category, covering a distance of 3.5 kilometres.

Participants enjoyed various programmes along the route, which included performances and demonstrat
ions that highlighted the cultural diversity of the region. The route provided scenic views of picturesque village areas, enhancing the experience for those involved. Performances included a top-spinning demonstration, Chinese and Indian drum displays, and a traditional Malay kompang performance.
