Lata mengkuang: A 16-year-old male student was reported to have drowned while bathing at the Lata Mengkuang waterfall near here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said it received an emergency call at 1.16 pm. A team of seven personnel from the Sik Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene.

The victim, Mohd Hanif Anaqi Mohd Khalid, was found unconscious by members of the public and later confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel.

The victim is said to have gone to the waterfall with six friends. The body was handed over to the police for further action.
