Lima Kedai:A seven-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs while playing at a playground near a low-cost housing flat. The incident occurred between 3 pm and 4 pm, during which the boy was believed to have been playing when six to eight stray dogs attacked him. He sustained injuries to his eye area, neck, head, and body and was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for treatment.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Pandak Ahmad reported that a man witnessing the incident threw stones at the dogs from a distance, which helped save the boy. Pandak was informed of the incident by the village head and inspected the location at the flats.
This was not an isolated incident, as a 15-year-old boy was also attacked by a pack of eight stray dogs around 6 am the same day. He managed to drive the animals away and fled to the building's staircase, sustaining injuries to his leg. Pandak advised the teenager to seek treatment at a nearby clinic.
Pandak expressed deep concern over these incidents and emphasized the need for immediate action by the authorities. He stated that the issue had been communicated to the local authority, and the Iskandar Puteri City Council plans to conduct an operation to address the stray dog problem in the area. He stressed the importance of ensuring residents' safety, particularly children, despite potential objections from NGOs.
Pandak visited the seven-year-old victim, hoping for effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future, especially in residential areas with public facilities. He questioned how long such threats would be tolerated and emphasized the urgency of action to prevent severe consequences.
In a related incident, a two-year-old girl named Nur Haira Wafiqah was seriously injured after being attacked by five stray dogs in Kampung Tambak, Peserai, Batu Pahat on September 5.
