STPM: Negeri Sembilan Ends Decade-Old Wait By Surpassing National CGPA

Negeri Sembilan: Negeri Sembilan has ended a decade-long wait by recording a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.86 in the 2024 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results, surpassing the national CGPA of 2.85.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun stated that this achievement, which Negeri Sembilan last recorded in 2014, was realised through continuous efforts and the strong commitment of educators. This success was bolstered by various state government initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education in the state.

“For the first time (in 10 years), the state CGPA has surpassed the national CGPA, even if only by 0.01 but I deeply appreciate it and would like to thank all parties, especially educational institutions, schools, parents and students who achieved this excellent result,” he said. Various forms of assistance and allocations have been provided to support educational excellence in the state, including through Yayasan Negeri Sembilan’s incentives aimed at developing socio-education. This includes an allocation of RM100,000 for tuition programmes for STPM students.

Aminuddin Harun also mentioned that the state government had allocated RM12 million for the education sector and there are plans to increase this allocation to ensure that education performance remains competitive.

Meanwhile, the best Science stream student in Negeri Sembilan, Hew Siow Xuan, shared her rigorous routine of dedicating weekends to at least eight hours of tuition and additional classes. She expressed her aspiration to further her studies in Petroleum Engineering at a local university.

Another successful student, Muhammad Fahrin Danial Abd Aziz from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mantin, emphasized that success is not solely dependent on study efforts but also on maintaining a positive attitude in daily life. He highlighted the importance of prayer and maintaining good relationships with Allah, parents, and teachers as crucial factors that contribute to success.
