Storm Wreaks Havoc on Kampung Bukit Bilal Eatery, Leaving Owner Devastated

Kampung bukit bilal: An eatery owner in Kampung Bukit Bilal here lost her source of income after the premises that supported her family was severely damaged in a storm yesterday, causing losses estimated at nearly RM100,000.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nor Ayu Jusoh, 40, said the storm struck at about 6 pm, shortly after her soup and mixed rice shop had closed for the day and she and her four employees had returned home. She was informed of the destruction by one of her children who works at a workshop opposite the eatery.

Nor Ayu described the scene, noting the roof had been torn off, display racks shattered, and brick walls collapsed. Tables, chairs, and business equipment were strewn about, while cooking utensils and raw ingredients were rendered unusable. She emphasized the shop is her family's sole source of income, supporting six children, four of whom are still in school.

She and her husband, Muhammad Hafizuddin Ramli, 40, previously operated at another location for nearly 20 years before moving to the current site, where they built the shop on rented land using their savings. The destruction has left her hoping for assistance to rebuild the premises.

Meanwhile, Tan Wei Ching, 35, a workshop owner nearby, recounted how light rain escalated into a storm with strong winds, damaging a nearby cendol stall before debris struck Nor Ayu's eatery. He stated that they could only seek safety inside the workshop due to the dangerous conditions outside.
