Storm Damages 18 Houses, Mosque In Pantai Remis, Manjung

Pantai remis: A total of 18 houses and a mosque were affected by a storm and strong winds in the Pantai Remis area of Manjung today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Manjung District Civil Defence Force (APM) Operations Control Centre (PKOD) reported receiving information about the incident at 8.56 am via WhatsApp from the District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) group.

“The incident occurred at about 12.30 am following continuous heavy rain and strong winds. APM personnel were deployed to the scene at 12.20 pm and arrived at Al-Aliah Mosque at 1.15 pm,” the statement revealed. It further detailed that checks identified damage and leaks on several roofs, including those of the mosque and residential houses located in Taman Nelayan 2, Jalan Pengkalan Baru, and Kampung Cina.

The PKOD APM highlighted that most of the affected houses are currently undergoing repairs to mitigate further damage, especially considering the overcast weather conditions. “Immediate maintenance and repair works need to be carried out due to the weather, and APM Manjung will continue to provide updates from time to time,” the statement added.
