Status Of LCS, Social Media Age Verification Among Focus Of Today’s Dewan Rakyat Sitting

Kuala lumpur: The status of Littoral Combat Ship 1 (LCS 1) KD Maharajalela and the age verification for social media platforms will be among the focus of today's Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Order Paper published on the Parliament's official website indicates that Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (PN-Tanah Merah) will inquire with the Defence Minister during the Questions for Oral Answers session about the performance of the sea trial of KD Maharajalela, and whether the vessel is on track to be commissioned as scheduled by August 2026.

Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) is set to question the Communications Minister on the Government's proposal to regulate the age verification process for social media platforms, which involves providing citizens' personal details to foreign platforms located abroad.

Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kasim (PN-Arau) will also query the Youth and Sports Minister about the absence of an internationally rated athletics stadium and a dedicated sports university in Malaysia, seeking clarity on the Government's plans to develop modern sports facilities to ensure that national athletes do not fall behind on the international stage.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is expected to deliver a briefing on the current developments of the Malaysian Armed Forces during the sitting.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting will proceed with the debate on the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address and is scheduled to continue for 20 days until March 3.
