State Football Bodies and Clubs Collaborate for Enhanced Development: FAM President

Kuala Lumpur: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) emphasizes that the collaboration between state football associations (FAs) and football clubs (FCs) remains strong, promoting a comprehensive approach to further the development of football at the state level.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, FAM president Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub clarified that the notion of FAs and FCs operating independently is misleading. He pointed out that most clubs are still owned by their respective FAs, maintaining robust working relationships. Mohd Joehari acknowledged that current issues such as salary problems might lead to assumptions of a lack of cooperation, but he assured that these relationships are intact and that FAs continue to be responsible for the clubs’ welfare.

Following a meeting with top FA and FC leaders at Wisma FAM, Mohd Joehari expressed optimism about FAM’s new strategy, which has been well-received by stakeholders. He outlined plans for more frequent meetings and dialogues with FAs and FCs acros
s states, aiming to foster stronger ties and address any challenges collaboratively.

Furthermore, Mohd Joehari mentioned that FAM, together with the Malaysia Football League (MFL), will adopt a more assertive approach to ensure club management is conducted in an organized and accountable manner. This involves engaging both FAs and FCs in joint efforts to enhance the state football landscape.

In another development, Mohd Joehari commended the impressive performance of national young talent Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili during Malaysia’s friendly match against Cape Verde. Ubaidullah was named Man of the Match, showcasing the capability of local players to compete internationally. The match, held at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, saw Malaysia’s Harimau Malaya secure a 1-1 draw against the 72nd-ranked team globally.

Additionally, Mohd Joehari mentioned that head coach Peter Cklamovski is expected to make an announcement regarding the inclusion of heritage player Rodrigo Holgado in Malaysia’s squad for
the upcoming 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers match against Vietnam.
