Selangor: Engagement sessions with stakeholders are currently underway to gather feedback on the proposed amendments to the Tabung Haji Act 1995 (Act 535), as recommended by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan stated that this initiative is aimed at bolstering the legal structure and enhancing the overall management of the pilgrimage fund board, Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring that all feedback collected during these sessions is thoroughly utilized to improve the management of the haj institution. He expressed optimism about obtaining valuable insights to elevate the institution's standing globally. "We have already held engagement sessions with stakeholders. Insya-Allah, we will obtain the best feedback and input to uplift this institution as the best," he told reporters after attending the MADANI Kita programme in Kampung Melayu Ampang, Selangor, alongside his deputy, Senator Marhamah Rosli.

The RCI report on TH's management and operations, released to the public on Wednesday, advocated for amendments to the Tabung Haji Act 1995 to enhance the board's governance and regulatory measures. Addressing the progress on implementing the RCI's recommendations, Dr Zulkifli noted that most proposals have been effectively executed, resulting in a significantly stronger financial position and governance for TH.

"We have seen the effects and the recommendations that were suggested. We have implemented most of them," Dr Zulkifli remarked. He further highlighted that the transformation within TH has been notably positive, with improvements in reserves, dividend rates, and overall governance. This progress has led to the institution receiving international recognition as the leading haj management institution worldwide.
