Sri gading: Sri Gading will usher in Merdeka Eve on August 30 with a line-up of multicultural performances, including kompang and lion dance displays, patriotic singing competitions, the Rukun Negara pledge, and a fireworks show. Member of parliament for the constituency, Aminolhuda Hassan, said the celebration, to be held at Dewan Hj Aminolhuda, is expected to draw more than 500 visitors, featuring participation from various communities and children’s Merdeka-themed colouring contests.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aminolhuda emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the celebrations. ‘When we involve people of all races, everyone comes. The highlight is the fireworks. Last year there were plenty and people were really satisfied. It wasn’t just the children who enjoyed it, but also the elders in the villages,’ he told Bernama after appearing on Bernama Radio’s special Merdeka edition of Jendela Fikir.
The event, which begins after Isyak prayers, will showcase cross-cultural performances to foster unity and serve a briyani dinner, one of Batu Pahat’s signature dishes. Ahead of the celebration, his office will distribute the Jalur Gemilang to 30 schools, police stations, clinics, and institutions of higher learning in the constituency.
Earlier on the radio programme, Aminolhuda stressed the importance of racial unity as the foundation of national stability, which in turn attracts investors and drives economic growth. He noted that development in Sri Gading is thriving, with industries, factories, and institutions such as Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia creating jobs and helping retain the local population.
