SPM Top Scorers Driven By Family Sacrifice, Discipline

Ipoh: Determination to uplift her family drove a 2025 SPM school leaver to excel, scoring 9A in the examination results released today. Wan Aleya Batrisyia Meor Ruslan, 18, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Raja Permaisuri Bainun, described her achievement as a meaningful gift to her parents, both factory workers who have worked tirelessly to support the family.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Aleya expressed her gratitude and surprise at the results, emphasizing the role of education in transforming her family's future. With encouragement from her parents, she developed consistent study habits, effective time management, and tailored learning methods for each subject. Her disciplined revision routine focused more on understanding than memorization, driven by her parents' sacrifices. Wan Aleya is determined to pursue higher education despite concerns over costs, with aspirations to study engineering and eventually become a lecturer.

Meanwhile, fellow top scorer Damia Safia Saat, 18, was equally surprised to achieve 9A after previously scoring 7A and 2C in her trial examination. Damia attributed her success to consistent effort, strong family and teacher support, and disciplined revision, dedicating several hours daily to her studies. She plans to further her studies in pharmacy at Universiti Malaya and is also open to opportunities abroad, depending on available offers.
