KELANTAN: The 48 candidates at Sekolah Menengah Ugama Arab (SMUA) Al-Falah displayed resilience as they proceeded with their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations despite floodwaters surrounding their school. The challenging conditions did not deter the students from taking their exams as scheduled.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the students remained composed during the written test, which began today. The recurring floods in the area have instilled a sense of preparedness among the candidates. Nurul Asma Muhd Razali, 17, expressed that the familiar occurrence of flooding did not disrupt her emotions, emphasizing the comfort of taking the exam in a known environment. Despite the high water levels, the candidates’ spirits were buoyed by the recent clear skies, which have helped the floodwaters recede gradually.
However, Nurul Asma, the youngest of 11 siblings, noted that the SPM listening test had to be conducted at an alternate location due to the significant flooding at SMUA Al-Falah. Meanwhile, Khairul Anuar Hamad, another candidate, maintained his focus on the examination, confident in his preparation. The school provided a makeshift bridge to ensure students could reach the examination hall safely.
SMUA Al-Falah is among two examination centers in Kelantan still affected by floods, the other being SMUA Diniah, which accommodates 16 students. Despite the circumstances, the resilience and determination of the students at these centers remain undeterred.
