Kuala lumpur: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Pantai in Bangsar today received the keys to its newly rebuilt Block C, replacing the original structure that suffered extensive termite-related structural damage over several years.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Lembah Pantai MP Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil stated that the block's rebuilding project had been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic but has now been completed. "Alhamdulillah, today we can see these classrooms are ready for use again, allowing pupils to learn in a much better environment," he mentioned to reporters following the handover ceremony for Block C at the school today, which was also attended by Kuala Lumpur Education Department director Megat Affandi Ismail and SK Bukit Pantai headmaster Shaharuddin Eusop.

Fahmi, who also serves as Communications Minister, expressed gratitude to Public Works Department-appointed contractor Picoland Sdn Bhd for completing the project on schedule and delivering quality work. The new block includes six classrooms for Year One and Year Two pupils, effectively ending the floating classroom system previously used by the school.

Fahmi also indicated that the open space between the two school blocks might undergo upgrades, potentially including the installation of artificial turf to create a recreational area for pupils. Additionally, he announced plans for a new primary school, SK Seri Pantai, to be constructed on the former site of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Pantai in Kampung Kerinchi, Pantai Dalam, with demolition expected to begin in the coming months.

The project aims to accommodate population growth driven by new housing developments in the Lembah Pantai area. "SK Bangsar, SK Bukit Bandaraya, and SK Bukit Pantai are currently operating at full capacity. SK Bangsar alone has more than 1,800 pupils. We want to ensure a more conducive learning environment. The proposed new school is expected to have at least 36 classrooms, although the final details are still being reviewed," Fahmi added.
