Sixteen Bersatu MPs Support Kiandee’s Call for Muhyiddin’s Resignation

Kuala lumpur: Sixteen members of parliament from Bersatu have expressed support for the call by the party's Dewan Rakyat chief whip, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down immediately as party president. In a joint statement, they acknowledged Muhyiddin's past services and contributions but said the Pagoh MP was no longer able to unite the party or steer it towards electoral victory.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MPs expressed confidence in Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's ability to serve well as acting president. The MPs supporting the call include Zikri Hassan (Kangar), Datuk Dr Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail (Kubang Pasu), Roslan Hashim (Kulim-Bandar Baharu), Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (Ketereh), Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang).

Additional supporters of Kiandee's call are Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid; Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor), Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik), Azahari Hassan (Padang Rengas), Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut), Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota), Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), Kalam Salan (Sabak Bernam), Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar), and Islahuddin Abas (Mersing).

Saifuddin, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed the authenticity of the statement announcing the support. The media statement was also shared by Saifuddin on his personal social media accounts.

The media had earlier reported that Kiandee, who is also a Bersatu vice-president, had urged Muhyiddin to step down as party president, becoming the first senior party leader to openly call for him to relinquish the party's top post.
