Six-year-old Girl Dies in Tragic Folding Table Accident at Home

TAMAN SERI PUTERA: A tragic accident claimed the life of a six-year-old girl who was trapped between the legs of a folding table while playing at her home. The incident took place yesterday afternoon, plunging the local community into mourning and highlighting the need for increased safety measures in domestic environments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. when the young girl was playing by herself in the back area of the house rented by her mother in Taman Seri Putera. At the time of the incident, her mother and siblings were inside the house, unaware of the peril the child was facing.

Upon realizing the severity of the situation, the mother urgently sought assistance from nearby neighbors to transport the child to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save her, the girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Parit Buntar Hospital in Perak.

Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed the incident and stated that the case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. The investigation aims to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and ensure accountability, if necessary, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
