Six Men Held Over Fatal Slashing In Pekan Nanas

Johor: Johor police have arrested six local men to assist investigations into the murder of a 22-year-old man believed to have been slashed to death in Pekan Nanas, Pontian yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, acting Johor police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat stated that the suspects were arrested in an operation conducted from midnight until early this morning at several locations around Johor Bahru. He mentioned that investigations are ongoing, and further details on the suspects will be disclosed later as the arrests were only made today.

The victim was found dead in a pool of blood in front of a food outlet in Pekan Nanas, with severe injuries to his hands and legs, prompting a swift response from the authorities.

In a separate case, police arrested seven foreign men aged between 17 and 45 to assist investigations into the murder of a technician at an apartment in Prima Tebrau, Johor Bahru on May 13. Hoo explained that the suspects were detained over the past three days in Masai and Mersing, while police also recovered the victim's car during one of the raids.

All suspects have been remanded for seven days until May 26 under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Police confirmed that the 33-year-old victim had stab wounds and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the incident. On May 13, the technician was found dead after he was believed to have been stabbed multiple times in an apartment unit in Prima Tebrau, with a knife believed to have been used in the incident found beside the victim.
