Lojing: Six individuals - four family members and two mountain guides - who entered a forest area through Pos Dakoh, Lojing, Gua Musang on Aug 29 are feared missing after not leaving at Pos Kemar, Perak as scheduled on Sept 3.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo stated that family members of the hikers lodged a police report in Selangor today after they failed to return from their hike on the set date. Checks with the Forestry Department indicated that the last contact with the group revealed their presence in the forest area in Perak.

Supt Sik further mentioned that the authorities are currently liaising with the Perak officials to secure confirmation of the group's whereabouts, as the last contact suggested they were in Perak and no longer in Kelantan. He confirmed that the group had permits to enter the forest and had engaged the services of two mountain guides.

The Gua Musang police are not conducting an operation in Kelantan at this time, as checks revealed that the group had crossed state borders. Preparations are underway should there be any developments or confirmation of their presence in the Kelantan area.

Efforts are also being made to verify information regarding the vehicle used by the group, including investigating whether they used rental vehicles or transport arranged by the mountain guides.
