SIWANIS 2025/2026 Proposes Key Motions on Workforce Well-Being and Inclusive Education

Selangor: The Selangor Women's Conference (SIWANIS) 2025/2026 today highlighted three significant motions during its debates, focusing on workforce well-being, strengthening the care economy, and providing inclusive education, particularly for women and persons with disabilities in Selangor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) chief executive officer Siti Faridah Abdul Samad emphasized the importance of these motions to maintain socioeconomic stability in the state. The first motion proposed the establishment of an integrated Quran and Fardhu Ain (KAFA) school tailored for children with disabilities, ensuring they receive education that meets their needs.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu and Selangor Women's Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari were present at the summit. Siti Faridah conveyed that the second motion focused on empowering flexible work arrangements to enhance inclusivity and address the need for flexible work policies. This motion aims to support women in caregiving roles, helping them balance work without sacrificing their employment due to inflexible schedules.

The third motion discussed the need to strengthen care economy infrastructure to support the 'sandwich generation' and dual-income families. Siti Faridah highlighted the necessity of a comprehensive ecosystem to aid families in caring for the elderly as Selangor approaches an aging population phase.

Anfaal Saari commented on the state government's commitment to enhancing women's participation in decision-making processes. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Selangor Women's Policy and Action Plan 2024-2025. Anfaal mentioned that some high-quality motions would be further considered, including the proposal to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department regarding the Integrated KAFA education and expanding flexible work arrangement studies by the Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated.

The conference also recognized exemplary contributions, awarding Kuan Yen Hong from the S54 Tanjong Sepat Delegation as the Best Delegate, while Group Five received the Group Award for their motions on Public Health and the Care Economy.
