Silam BN Candidate Manifesto: To Increase TVET Institutions In Lahad Datu

Lahad datu: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Silam state seat, Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul, has announced a proposal to increase the number of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Lahad Datu, contingent upon receiving the mandate in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sharif Musa’s manifesto includes plans for establishing educational institutions such as polytechnics, Mara Skills Institute (IKM), Industrial Training Institute (ILP), and MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) in Lahad Datu. Sharif Musa, who serves as the chairman of Giatmara Lahad Datu Advisory, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the national education policy, which prioritizes TVET education.

Sharif Musa highlighted the necessity of TVET education by stating, “We know that many of our children do not reach university level or are lazy to study. We have an opportunity for these children, enroll them in TVET so that their future is guaranteed.” He made these remarks to Bernama following his attendance at a women’s empowerment program.

Additionally, Sharif Musa aims to produce 500 TVET graduates annually across various streams by strengthening the educational infrastructure in Lahad Datu. His campaign slogan, “Silam Maju Dan Indah Tanpa Sampah,” also addresses environmental concerns, focusing on resolving garbage issues to enhance the living conditions for residents of Silam and Lahad Datu.

Furthermore, Sharif Musa plans to transform the Lahad Datu Esplanade into a renowned seafood hub in Sabah. The Election Commission (EC) has set November 29 as the polling day, with early voting scheduled for November 25.
