Nagoya:Aichi-Nagoya National sprinter Shereen Samson Vallabouy expressed her disappointment after failing to secure a spot in the women's 400-metre final at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Vallabouy, who won a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, finished fourth in Heat Three with a time of 54.03 seconds at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
Shereen admitted her feelings of disappointment and sadness but acknowledged that she gave her best effort during the race. She mentioned the need to review her performance with her coach for future improvement.
At 28, Shereen emphasized her determination to accept the result and focus on coming back stronger in her athletic career. She stated that the Aichi-Nagoya Games would be her last competition of the year, with plans to resume competition in the next season.
In the earlier heats, Iranian runner Zahra Zarei Manoujan secured first place with a time of 52.00 seconds, followed by Uzbekistan's Jonbibi Hukmova and India's Prachi, who finished second and third, respectively, to qualify for the final.
In the men's 400m event, Umar Osman finished sixth in Heat Two with a time of 46.91 seconds, also missing a place in the final. India's Vishal Thennarasu won the heat, with Qatar's Ammar Ibrahim and Sri Lanka's Kalinga Kumarge securing the next two qualifying spots.
