Shahadzryl Steals The Show, Sweeps Two Titles In Inaugural Lee Chong Wei Cup

Bukit jalil sports school (ssbj) shuttler shahadzryl suhaime emerged as the standout performer at the inaugural lee chong wei cup after becoming the sole player to capture two titles during the final day of the tournament at the stadium juara:ear-old Kuantan native showed remarkable physical resilience throughout the tournament, having fought his way all the way from the qualifying rounds, which began on Aug 29.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shahadzryl kicked off his final-day triumph in the boys' singles under-13 (U13), showing composure to bounce back from a game down and defeat Penang's Jorus Lee Yi H'ng 12-15, 15-12, 15-12. He maintained his momentum in the boys' doubles U13, pairing up with fellow schoolmate from Putrajaya, Gan Giap Han, to see off Sarawak's Ahmad Aniq Rafiq Mohd Zariffi-Lucas Ho Ming Joon 15-12, 15-12.

Despite the heavy match load throughout the nine-day event and coming from qualifiers, Shahadzryl said that sweeping both events was always his primary objective. "From the start of the tournament, I already aimed for two championships," he told reporters here, today. Shahadzryl, who started playing badminton at the age of five and idolises national badminton legend Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei, has set his sights firmly on his ultimate goal next by earning a place in the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) national setup.

In the meantime, Giap Han, 13, said their winning mindset was established well before stepping onto the court and hoped to join the BAM setup too in the future. As boys' singles U13 champion, Shahadzryl walked away with RM2,000 as well as RM3,000 with Giap Han, following the boys' doubles U13 triumph.
