Kuala lumpur: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has ordered the local authorities to take immediate action concerning a purported illegal foreign settlement in Setia Alam. He stated that the directive came after a decision made at the Selangor State Security Working Committee meeting a few days ago, which determined that enforcement action must be taken if land encroachment is discovered.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will take necessary actions, including issuing notices to the landowners involved and verifying whether the land belongs to the government or private entities. Datuk Seri Amirudin emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating at a press conference that he informed the relevant parties to ensure prompt action, particularly in issuing notices to the landowners. The statement was made during the launch of the Festival Turath Islami Selangor at the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting room, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building.

Recently, media reports highlighted that the Immigration Department of Malaysia was scrutinizing allegations concerning the existence of an illegal foreign settlement in Setia Alam, despite prior enforcement actions taken in early April. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban mentioned the possibility of an integrated operation involving relevant agencies should the investigations substantiate the allegations.

Previous media reports indicated that numerous illegal structures, allegedly housing thousands of foreigners, persist on the outskirts of Shah Alam despite multiple raids and enforcement operations. A survey conducted at Persiaran Setia Makmur, Setia Alam, and Jalan Hamzah, Kampung Budiman, revealed illegal settlements constructed on oil palm plantation land, raising questions about the effectiveness of current enforcement measures.
