Several Roads in Kelantan Affected by Floods and Landslides

KELANTAN: Flooding and landslides have disrupted transportation in Kelantan, leading to the closure of several roadways, according to the Public Works Department (JKR). Stretches of both federal and state roads in the Machang region are currently impassable due to the severe weather conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kelantan JKR director, Nik Soh Yaacoub, reported that FT 479 Jalan Kemuning-Bukit Belah and D16 Jalan Batu 30-Temangan are submerged under 0.8 meters of water. Landslides have also been reported on the access road to the VHF station at Bukit Bakar and along FT 008 Jalan Kota Bharu-Gua Musang near Dataran Bukit Belah.

In response to these hazards, the JKR has installed warning signs and barricades at the affected locations. These measures aim to ensure that road users exercise caution and adhere to established regulations in order to prevent any accidents. Nik Soh emphasized the importance of vigilance as the department continues to monitor the situation closely.

For those affected, alternative routes are available, and updates on road closures and landslides can be accessed through the JKR’s website at https://bencana.jkr.gov.my/. This platform provides timely information to help travelers navigate the disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions currently impacting the area.
