Kuala lumpur: An elderly man was found dead in a cave near a resort in Kampung Pulai, here, last night. Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations commander Che Razak Harun said his department received a call at 9.41 pm before 13 members with two engines and two four-wheel drive vehicles were rushed to the location. He said upon arrival at 9.57 pm, firefighters found the victim, estimated to be in his 70s, unconscious in the cave. 'Members used a stretcher and lights to carry the victim out before Health Ministry officials confirmed that the man had died,' he said when contacted today. He said the victim's body was then handed over to the police for further action, while the operation was brought under control at 10.10 pm before being completely ended at 10.48 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gua Musang District Police chief Supt Aik Choon Foo said the man has been identified as Heng Pok Seng, 72, from Terengganu. He said the victim arrived in Kampung Pulai with his sister and a friend on their way to Kuala Lumpur, before stopping to visit a temple in the area. 'At about 8 pm, they checked in at a resort before heading to the cave. The victim then entered the cave alone, while his friend waited outside. After waiting for about 30 minutes, his friend felt uneasy and entered the cave to look for the victim, but failed to find him. They then informed the resort owner and conducted a joint search before finding the victim in a narrow space in the cave, believed to be dead,' he said in a statement today.
